Megan and Hudson

Just wanted to update everyone on Megan and Hudson.

Hudson Scott Glen McCormick was born, May 29th at 2:53pm, 5 weeks early. He was 6 lbs, 13 oz and 19-3/4" long. It has been a pretty tough week for both of them. Hudson was taken early because Megan had toxemia and her kidneys were starting to shut down. Once he was born, they medicated Megan to try and take care of the toxemia and high blood pressure. The medicine made Megan have flu like symptoms and they put it through an IV so she could not get out of bed. Hudson was also hooked up to an IV in the nursery. His left lung was premature so from the time he was born, he has been on oxygen and had a feeding tube down his throat. It was really hard to see him like that, but as of today, they took everything off of him but the oxygen. He is only requiring a small amount of oxygen and they will ween him off slowly. Megan is doing well and was released from the hospital on Saturday. She and Heath rented a room at the hospital so they could be close to Hudson. We're not sure how long he will have to stay, but they want to make sure he is breathing well on his own before they release him. He is a very pretty baby with lots of hair. I will try and post pictures soon.

Kelly,
Thanks for the update. We got to see Hudson and Megan last Saturday afternoon. I agree, it's hard to see such a little one with tubes down his nose and cocooned in a blue wrapper under the blue lights, and I didn't even see him with the mask on. Tough stuff. We also got to meet Heath, and while we were there, Brandon came by. Hudson was the only baby in the nursery when we were there, so the on-duty nursery nurse let us all go in and see him together. Know you're a proud Mimi. Hope all continues to progress toward health and healing for all. MB
